Lumla, Dec 1 (ANI): Impressed with the prevailing peace and spirit of development, Chief Minister Nabam Tuki exhorted the people of Tawang district, Lumla assembly constituency in particular, to maintain its glory by thwarting all negative forces.
Describing former chief minister, late Dorjee Khandu as a ‘messiah’ of the masses known for his spirit for all round development, Tuki announced that he was committed to fulfill all his unfinished dreams.
The chief minister, who was accompanied by Rajya Sabha member and APCC president Mukut Mithi, Lok Sabha member Takam Sanjoy and DRC K N Damo, arrived on his maiden trip here in an IAF chopper.
Showering bounties in response to the number of memorandum submitted by various sections, Tuki said the people of the district are strong Congress supporters who were, are and would remain always Congress.
The Congress-led UPA-II Government led by Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi has been implementing various flagship schemes, like ‘Bharat Nirman’ to ensure the fruits of development reaches every village of the country.
“I am confident Congress will sweep all future elections including unopposed election of local MLA Tashi to give further momentum to already impressive development recorded during the last three years,” Tuki exhorted the massive gathering.
The chief minister, who announced Rs. four crore corpus fund for Tawang Monastery and Rs one core for starting retention work of the landslide hit areas and Rs 20 lakh for protection of landslide area of Manju Shree School at tawang as promised earlier, said the state’s development should begin from here.
Tuki said that at the request of Tourism and RWD Minister Pema Khandu and local MLA he has made correction in the cabinet decision for regularization of services of 36 Bhoti teachers in the scale of pay of Rs 9,300-34,800 as advertised.
Moreover, he assured to take up with Education Minister Bosiram Siram for upgradation of Zemithang ME school to secondary level, introduction of science stream in Lumla Government HS school and posting of adequate teachers in the Lumla GHSS or else recruit local qualified candidates to serve as teachers.
Accepting the suffering of the people for want of an LPG agency and a petrol depot, he assured the move the GoI for setting up the essential services at the earliest besides completion of Lumal-Tashigang road.
However, without opposing the demand for Autonomous District Council for Tawang and West Kameng districts, Tuki said it needed introspection though it was in the Centre’s court.
