TAMENGLONG, Dec 20 (MNS/NNN): An agreement wasreached after talks were held between Deputy CM Gaikhangam and various organisations. The Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF), Liangmai Naga Katimai Ruangdi (LNKR), Zeliangrong Baudi (ZB), the Zeliangrong Citizens Forum (ZCF), the All Naga Students Association Manipur (ANSAM) and Zeliangrong Students Union Manipur (ZSUM) have strongly condemned the December 18-19 adjoining night incident where a civilian identified as one Boudiyang Panmei was shot dead by unidentified armed men.
LNKR said such incident would not bring any good in the society. It asked armed groups to refrain from attacking civilians.
ANSAM, ZYF and ZSUM want the government to book the culprits at the earliest. These organisations also demanded that the concernment authority should investigate as to how such an incident could occur in a tight security area. They then asked the government to compensate the victim’s relatives with appropriate ex-gratia and give a government job to one of the victim’s kins.
Meanwhile, the ZUF has strongly condemned the killing of Boudiyong Panmei (36) s/o Arem Panmei. The militant outfit has pledged to find out who was behind the incident.
The Zeliangrong Citizens Forum (ZCF) too condemns in the strongest term the killing of Boudiyang Panmei by an unidentified assailants. “This killing of an innocent family man by the perpetrators of this dreadful crime needs to be condemned by one and all. We demand the harshest exemplary punishment to the perpetrator(s) of such heinous crime so that such incident will not repeat in future,” thw ZCF said.
It then reminded that the recent fratricidal killings among the armed groups operating in our land and the untold sufferings faced by our people due to such repeated incidents are still fresh in our minds. And this particular incident reminds us that our lives are still very unsafe in our own homes and in our land.
“We share our heartfelt condolence to the bereaved family members of our late brother Boudiyang Panmei and pray that the Almighty will grant them strength and comfort at this time of irreparable great loss,” it condoles.
In the meantime, the ZCF appeals to all armed groups operating in our land particularly in the Zeliangrong areas to abstain from killing one another. “Killings among our own brothers for whatever be the reason(s) behind should be stopped. All the armed groups should also refrain themselves from mingling with the civilians particularly in this festive season. We pray to the Almighty to grant courage and wisdom to all the leaders of our organizations to ensure that peace and justice prevail in our land again,” the ZCF added.
