Ranchi , Jan. 9 (ANI): Jharkhand Governor Syed Ahmed has recommended President’s rule in the state.
According to television reports, Ahmed has written a letter in this regard to President Pranab Mukherjee following Chief Minister Arjun Munda’s resignation.
Munda, who resigned as the chief minister yesterday, recommended dissolution of the 82-member Assembly leaving the situation wide open for the Jharkhand Governor to decide the future course of action.
Jharkhand plunged into a political crisis yesterday after Shibu Soren’s Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) withdrew support to the BJP and forced Arjun Munda to resign.
Relations between the BJP and JMM came under strain since the chief minister rejected that there was an agreement between the two parties on rotation of power after 28 months in office.
JMM, however, insisted there had been an agreement to share power.
The BJP and JMM have 18 members each in the 82-member Jharkhand assembly. The Congress has a total of 13 members.
