AIZAWL, Jan 22: Mizoram Director General of Police (DGP) Alok Kumar Verma yesterday inaugurated the 16 pilot sites of Crime & Criminal Tracking Network and System (CCNTS) here at Aizawl Police Station. The pilot sites are to be used in 5 Police Stations and 11 offices of Police Officers.
The CCTNS inauguration function was conducted by CID (Crime) SP Joseph Lalchhuana, while DIG and CCTNS nodal officer Zorammuana highlighted the overall functioning of the police, and Addl. SP, CID (Crime) Zosangliana on the other explained how the CCTNS project is carried out in Mizoram.
The CCTNS is launched with latest IT equipment to enhance credibility of the function of the police, such that it will be useful not only for the police but for the people too. Notably, Mizoram is the state which carries out the project in the fastest manner among other states in India.
The CCTNS is done with the initiative of BSNL, DOICT, NIC and SWAN. It is proposed to be used in Police Stations and offices of Police Officers; computers for the purpose are now installed in 94 places in the state.
In its Phase-I, the system is now activated in 25 places within Aizawl district. As per plan, the system will be activated in all parts of the State by July this year.
