Imphal, Feb 14 : Dy. CM Gaikhangam said, we should strive for a peaceful state by giving up violence.
We should know our cultural value and tradition so that we can preserve our integrity.
The dy. CM was speaking as chief guest at the 22nd Khurpui lao festival 2013 based on peace and harmony through cultural integration at the auditorium of MFDC, Palace compound yesterday.
The festival which shows the originality of Kom tribe is praiseworthy. The dance performance shows the way of civilization from the cave stage to an organized society.
Although the number of Kom tribe is few, the tribe can identify not only in culture but also in sports in the world. The dance and song of this tribe is an important part of the state’s heritage.
The minister also donated Rs. 50 thousands to the organizing committee.
The IFCD minister who was one of the functional president said, the Kom tribe is an intelligent tribe. The tribe presents dance and song for the state. He also laudd MC mary Kom who brings laurels for India and Manipur.
The hosts of the functions were advisor of Khurpui lam chairman of MTDC, T. Manga vaiphei and TN Haokip MLA.
The chief guest also released a souvenir in connection with the function.
Edn. Minister M. Okendro, agri, minister Md. Abdul Nasir also attended the occasion as functional presidents and Dr. Chaltolien Amo, chairman of Hill Area Committee, Surchandra, Janghemlung Pamei, MLAs were the guest of honour.
London Olympic bronze medalist, MC Mary Kom also graced as special guest.
