Imphal, Mar 23 : 27 Assam Rifles of 28 Sector under HQ IGAR (South) participated in a Blood Donation Camp organised by Blood Bank RIMS Imphal and RBI Guwahati on 23 Mar 2013 at Charang Pat Makhlang in Thoubal District. Blood donation is one of the noblest gestures of humanity which promotes fraternity, unity and brotherhood and also serves to ensure peace, prosperity & progress of the nation. It is indeed shocking to know that every year India requires 40 million units of 250cc blood out of which only a meager 500,000 of blood units are available. The blood that shall be collected during the course of the camp will be deposited in RIMS Blood Bank, Imphal and shall be used for life saving purposes for the needy like accident victims, premature babies and patients undergoing major surgery.
The latest act of blood donation received an overwhelming and exhilarating response. A total of 36 enthusiastic troops of 27 Assam Rifles along with 21 civilians voluntarily donated blood.
