IMPHAL, May 13: Addressing a press conference at Tangkhul Avenue, the Village authority of the silent village called a press conference at the Thangkhul Avenue stating that its villagers will resettle back in the area within a short period of time. David Shimray, Member of the Silent Village Authority said that following the arson incident on May 3, the villagers had met with the Chief Minister on the very next day asking for one post of para military forces in the area for controlling such incidents. “But till today, the state government is yet to open any post in the area,” he said.
David Shimray further added that the state Government, NGOs and some civil society organization of the state had stepped in to provide lots of relief material to the victims of the arson incident and they are thankful to all of them but lamented that the state government is yet to take up anything concrete to start the process of resettlement of the victims whose entire properties were burnt down.He also demanded the state government to give proper compensation to the victims who houses, vehicles and other household items and property were burnt down.
