IMPHAL, June 27: Family members and the concerned JAC have claimed the body of SI Krishnadas this noon and decided to suspend its indefinite bandh in Patsoi constituency from 6pm today.

The body was claimed from the RIMS morgue after police announced to depose the body as unclaimed body incase family members fail to claim the body by this evening, JAC spokesperson, Joshikanta told the media.

Floral tribute were paid to the dead body of S I Krishnadas by the Minsiter Social Welfare Ak Mirabai who is the local MLA offered floral tributes to the deceased SI before his cremation.

SP Bishnupur Herojit, additonal SP Law and Order Bishnupur Bikramjit, Officer in Charge Bishnupur Police Station Ingocha other police officers and locals of Mayaikoibi also offered floral tributes.

A sub inspector of the Bishnupur Police, Mayengbam Krishnadas, was found dead after going out to buy some cigarette at Lamjaotomba some few meters away from Sangaiprou Kabui Khul under Lamphel Police, on the night of June 21.

Ever since then, a JAC was formed who had been spearheading the agitations demanding the arrest of the all culprits involved.

Joshikanta declared before the media today that there is no negotiation with the government, and added that all kinds of agitations will be continued until justice is delivered.

He further demanded Home minister Gaikhangam to step down from deeming him unfit for the post of Home.

The body was taken in a procession from the RIMS morgue and after passing through RIMS road, Uripok Kanchup Road, Naoremthong, Tera, Sayang and finally culminated at Mayaikoibi PCC ground.

Police personnel considering the volatile situation were seen escorting the procession throughout the route.

Speaking to the media at the PCC ground, Joshikanta said that agitations will continue until the government fulfil the demands.

Clarifying to certain speculation about the agitation turning communal, he said there is no intention of being communal.

The government has failed to arrest or produce the culprits and the reality behind the killing, he observed,

He said that it is not the first time that a dead body has been found from the spot where Krishnadas’s body was recovered, however the government has continued to maintain silence and arrest those involved in the heinous crimes.

President, KANGLAMEI said it is unfortunate that the government has failed to arrest and book the culprits even after more than six days.

She further urged the police to clarify as to whether the arrested person is the person, and if he is then were there other accomplice.

She asked the police against trying to divert the case and appealed to bring the real culprits to justice.

KANGLAMEI will support the JAC in their demands to bring justice and warned of serious forms of agitations unless the culprits are arrested.

The State government should take responsibility for any untoward incident arising out of the issue, she said.

United Women Development organisation, Bishnupur district president RK Tombisana said the organisation condemn the incident and appealed for the fast arrest of the culprits and to divulge the truth behind the arrest of an innocent person made in connection with the case.
