IMPHAL, May 4: The Thangmeiband Assembly Constituency Development Forum had organized a distribution programme for various pensions and benefits schemes for Thangmeiband A/C, today. The function was held at the residence of Jyotin Waikhom, secretary, Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC), Thangmeiband Hijam Leikai.

The distribution programme was attended by Jyotin Waikhom, as chief guest, Th. Ibotombi, president, Thangmeiband Block Congress Committee, as functional president and Thambaljao Phaomei, councilor, ward No. 25, A. Jiwanlata Devi councilor ward No. 2, S Surangini, councilor, ward No. 3 and Soraisam ongbi Binarani Devi, social worker as the guests of honour of the distribution programme.

The pensions were distributed to altogether 61 beneficiaries from the Thangmeiband A/C. The beneficiary schemes included old aged pension, once in a year, widows`™ pension, once in 18 months, family benefits, one time and disables`™ pension, once in 18 months.

The amount distributed for each schemes were Rs2400 for old aged, Rs.3600 for widows, Rs. 10,000 given once for family benefits scheme and Rs. 3600 for Disable pension.

IMPHAL, May 4: Installation of artificial turf for football ground at Khuman Lampak is likely to begin soon.
According to a release of the AMFA, one official each of world football governing body FIFA and AIFF will be coming to the state to begin installation work.

The two officials will arrive on May 5, an AMFA release said.

The names of the officials who are to visit the state for installation of artificial football turf are Eric Gordon Harrison, FIFA official and BMR Mehta of AIFF.

IMPHAL, May 4: MEIRAA beat YAC by 8-1 in the 35th mens state league hockey tournament being held at Khuman Lampak Hockey stadium. In the second match, UYAC defeated SYUC by 3-1.

For MEIRAA, Th Kirankumar scored four goals while N Baskar scored two in the 4th and 47th minute. Th Tompok and N Rohesh too scored one goal each. The lone goal for YAC was scored by H Bikram in the 50th minute.

In the second match, UYAC moved ahead with M Dinapal`™s goal in the 20th minute. M Minpal increased the margin with another goal in the 26th minute while Dinapal again scored third goal for the team in the 36th minute.

S Robin scored the only goal for SYUC in the 49th minute.

IMPHAL, May 4: All Manipur Football Association is to conduct a selection competition at the earliest to select one club for participation in the Manchester United Tournament to be held from May 16 at Pune, Maharastra. The tournament to be organised by the AIFF is open for players born on or after January, 1, 1996.

AMFA inform interested Clubs (affiliated units of the DSAs/DFAs) to send their entry along with a fee of Rs 1000 latest by May 7 with recommendation of the concern DSA/DFA.

UKHRUL, May 4: The Annual Sports Day of the Ukhrul Scholars` Pakshimi High School has kicked-started today its opening Ceremony at Ukhrul Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) Ground today morning.It very imperative to be noted that the event of “Sports Meet” days is one of the most interesting moments or remarkable that no single student forget the events memories in future when they grow-up.

Of nearly thousand number of students of the Scholars` P/H School both boys and girls categorized in the cluster groups of Blue, Green, Yellow and Red houses took an enthusiastic participation in the Opening Ceremony occasion scheduled the fixture games as per the rules and regulations laid down strictly by the School authority and its teaching staffs assigned at respective sports items following keen initiatives adhering the rules and regulations.

The school students had played a very successful competitions games or items including to those of Junior and senior boys foot-ball match, Vollley-ball match between the girls and boys students in four counterpart houses each played, the game of Tug of War between boys and girls were also played maintaining in a very “enthusiastic or good game spirit” manner. IMPHAL, May 4: Linthoi FC, GSC, TBSFA and YOSC have entered semi final of the 3rd Th Birchandra memorial football academy U-13 football tournament being held at Toubungkhok.

In the first quarter final match played today Linthoi FC defeated NSU by 3-1 while GSC defeated NYASO in the second match.

In the third quarter final, TBSFA defeated LUFA with 3-1 score while in the last quarter final match played today YOSC of Khurai defeated BMSC by 7-1 goals.

Linthoi FC will clash with YOSC in the first semi final while TBSFA will play GSC in the second semi final. Both the semi final matches will be played on May 6 at Toubungkhok.

As Mr. James (Mugundhan), CEO UNIGROUP, failed to keep his promise, I would like to say a big sorry and my apology to all the respected leaders and investors for being unable to fulfill the desire of the investors. As per James`™s assurance at Malaysia and as per the telephonic conversation almost every day, he kept on telling me that he will be clearing the payout before the end of April, but the month has ended and nothing got materialize. Still then, I will keep on pressurizing him until and unless we get back our money. He still kept on saying that he will return the capital amount sooner or later.

Therefore, I sincerely request all the respected leaders and investors to kindly support in forming a committee or welfare so as to make alternative arrangement along with the committee to bring out some amicable solution of the prevailing situation in order to safeguard the people and to avoid unwanted troubles and violence. Trouble and violence will bring only destruction and lost and therefore, I humbly request all the investors to kindly understand and bear with me for some more time and shun any sort of violence. In the meantime, I will pursue to my level best to get back our principle amount with the committee. And whatever the funds coming from the company will be made directly credited in the committee`™s account. And I will not stop fighting the company till we achieve our desire goal and everything is possible when we all unitedly work together. Once again, I humbly request all the investors to kindly support and cooperate with me and the leaders as we are trying our very best to come out of our problem. An information office will be open in Imphal at the earliest possible time.

IMPHAL, May 3: The directorate of transport in a notification has notified that the existing Moreh Parking of Tata Sumos/M-Vans belonging to Moreh-Imphal Jeep and Tata Sumo Taxi service welfare association, Imphal Moreh block owner welfare association and Indo-Myanmar road self employed van owners drivers association, will be shifted at the space available in front of Moirangkhom bazaar, eastern road side of NH-39 with immediate effect and until further order.

It clarified that the notification is issued in view of the disturbances caused due to laying of pipes for the sewerage project and other related development works taken up by the PWD/PDA/BSNL, Manipur along the Kanglapark stretch, NH-39.

At the same time it has informed that the order is issued as per the decisions taken in the TPRC meeting held on May 2 at 5 pm.

IMPHAL May 3: The troops of 29 Assam Rifles under HQ IGAR(South) launched operation in general area of Sita track on the first of May and intercepted four individuals with banned wild life products in a Maruti Gypsy Regd MN-01K 2067, heading towards Moreh. All the individuals were from Tengnoupal and were identified as Douzathang Paocha, 31 years old , s/O Khai Lhun, Helun Mate, 30 years old, s/o Lilen and Mamang Mate, 25years old, according to press release by the 29 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector under HQ IGAR(SOUTH).

It further added that 15 kgs of Tiger bones with two skulls, one tiger skin weighing 4.5 kgs and was handed over to the Forest Department, Imphal after an FIR was lodged with Tegnoupal Police Station.

In yet another similar incident, the troops apprehended a Myanmarese national at around 4.30 p.m. on the first of May without valid document, who was identified as Myintoo alias Peter alias Bunny Pao, 38years old, s/o Uah Yel from Kyang Tong, Shan(Myanmar).One fake Indian driving license, wallet, mobile phone with Thailand SIM card ,two Myanmar SIM cards, one Indian SIM, foreign visiting cards along Indian and Thailand currency and was handed over to Tegnoupal Police Station, it further added.

IMPHAL May 3: As a part of its ongoing community service under the `heart to heart`™ project, the Rotary Club of Imphal sent two children suffering from congenital heart disease to Fortis Escorts Heart Institute, Delhi for open heart surgeries today.
A release of the club has identified as Bleson Kom, 9, s/o Shankup Kom of Sagang village, Churachandpur and N Preeti Devi, 3, d/o N Sailendo Singh of Kakching Khullen.

The two children who were accompanied by their parents were seen off at the Imphal airport by the club`™s president, rotarian Dr M Madhumangal Singh and its public relations chairman, rotarian W Kened Kumar, it added.
In all the club has facilitated open heart surgeries to 33 children, belonging to families below poverty line, who were born with congenital heart disease or holes in their hearts, stated the release.

IMPHAL, May 3: Nine MPS Grade-II officers have been upgraded to MPS Grade-I in the pay scale of Rs.15,600 to Rs.39,100 plus Grade pay of Rs.6,600 per month on the recommendation of the Selection Committee in its meeting held on April 25 last month and in exercise of the power conferred under Rule 29 of MPS Rules, 1965.

In this regard an official order has been issued by the Additional Secretary (DP) T Ranjit Singh and as per the order all nine MPS Grade-II officials identified as Leishumthing Ragui Dy SP, L Sanajaoba Singh, AC 3rd IRB, Md Hushne Jaman Shah Dy. IMPHAL May 3 (NNN): The Naga people will observe the first death anniversary of the two students who were killed in the security force firing last year in the Manipur-Nagaland border at Mao Gate, according to the United Naga Council.

Neli Chakho and Dikho Loshou were killed in the security force firing on May 6 last year at Mao-Gate in the impasse of Muivah`™s proposed visit to his home village.

The United Naga Council called the two students as martyrs.

President of Naga Hoho, Keviletuo Kiewhuo will unveil the `martyrs` epitaph at Mao Gate, said the UNC.

Naga Hoho, Naga Student Federation (NSF), Naga Mothers`™ Association (NMA), Naga frontal organisations in Manipur, Naga tribes in Manipur, social leaders , dignitaries from all works of life will attend the anniversary, the UNC said.

The United Naga Council (UNC) instructs all the Naga villages to honour the “martyrs” by pronouncing ghena on May 6. Ghena means to abstain from all manual works.

IMPHAL, May 2: The corpse of Salam Sanjoy, 18, s/o Kamini Singh of Moirang Hanuba Leirak who allegedly died in the custody of the 12 MLI on April 29 was claimed for funeral rites by his family members today.

It may be mentioned that, Sanjoy a former cadre of the proscribed KYKL who later defected to KYKL (MDF) died at the MLI outpost located at Patsoi part 4 and the army had claimed that he died of a drug overdose, the JAC instituted in the regard has resolved that until the CBI has inquired into the incident and to punish the culprits involved in the alleged custodial death, the corpse of Salam Sanjoy will not be taken back. Reports are still not had on what grounds the understanding between the JAC and the government has been reached.

IMPHAL May 2: The biannual election for electing office bearers for the next term of the All Manipur Working Journalist`™s Union for the 2011-2013 tenure was held yesterday.

Ahongsangbam Mobi Singh, editor of the vernacular daily Sanaleipak won the presidential status by beating his only rival Bijoy Kakchingtabam, associate editor of Poknafam by a margin of 5 votes.

Out of the 167 votes casted, A Mobi managed to get 86 votes while Bijoy got 81 votes.

Out of the 10 candidates vying for the 7 seats of the standing committee, the contestants elected having the majority in sequence are W Dhamendro of daily eveninger Kangleipakki Meira, Ksh Meghajit of Naharolgi Thoudang, GA Naocha of News X, S Surjeshwar of Sangai Express, Kh Naoba of IS Tv, B Sanjoy of Eikhoigei Panthung and Y Nikesh of Ireibak.

The new elected members will be handed over charge on July 1 as per norms of the scribe`™s body.
