IMPHAL, May 24: An awareness cum training and input distribution programme on ‘Promoting improved technology of groundnut production among the tribal farmers of Manipur under TSP’ was organised by ICAR Research Complex for NEH region, Manipur Centre, Imphal and Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ukhrul and sponsored by Directorate of Groundnut Research, Junagadh, Gujarat on May 24, said a press release of the KVK, Ukhrul ICAR RC Manipur Centre.

It said during the technical session, S Gunamani Singh, SMS (Plant Breeding), KVK, Imphal west and N.Ajitkumar Singh, SMS (Plant protection) KVK, Ukhrul discussed detail package and practices about the crop, pest and disease management and also given more emphasis on diversification through groundnut cultivation in hilly areas in respect of climate change of Manipur.

20 farmers participated in the programme for groundnut cultivation in 10 hectares of Ukhrul districts of Tanrui, Rumva, Lanlang, Halang and Nungshangkhong village with enthusiasm to learn the new technology of Broad Bed and Furrow (BBF) method for cultivation after groundnut, it said.

The ICAR has provided all critical inputs like seed (groundnut), fertilizer, Agrilime, pesticide and herbicides for groundnut cultivation in 10 hectare farmer’s land of above village said the press release signed by the programme Ccoordinator of KVK, Ukhrul ICAR RC Manipur Centre.
