Funny witty Chitreshwar no more

At the dawn of 8th March, my wife received a message from one of my closest friends saying that ‘Pabung has just passed away’. As soon as she saw the message she informed me that Pabung Chitreshwar is no more. I sprang out from my bed and made a call to confirm the sad news.

Manipur within saffron range

Modiji proclaimed that ‘there is nothing harmful in the accord’. He contemplated and wanted to rescue the people of Manipur from 10% syndrome. He enunciated that “maintaining law and order is the sole responsibility of the State government which includes dealing with the blockades; and no one has the right to rule if unable to maintain peace”. He also hinted an IIT for the State, promised irrigation for agriculture, jobs for youths and treatment for elderly people. The crowd was mesmerized and workers energized.

It is indeed a great loss for the country particularly for the State of Manipur when Prof Gangmumei Kamei passes away. He was not only an outstanding teacher of history but also an excellent guide and guru to many people. I was not a student of Prof Gangmumei but certainly I was one of those who had the rare privilege to interact and argue with him on many crucial issues of the people on many occasions.

Blockade & bandh bonanzas

Today the ‘Jewel of India’ may rightly be retitled as the ‘land of bandhs & blockades’. In a year, nearly 5/6 months are under the spell of either bandh or blockade.

Benefits of demonetization

As far as the demonetization is concerned it has the moral high ground because this is an attempt to blast the black money, castrate corruption, kill counterfeit money and of course beget a cashless economy for more accountability & transparency. Fighting a war against the evils will certainly cause some collateral damages and people will understand it. If they don’t what can be done?

Cho is no more and we have lost a precious member of our community. The satirists and applesauce writers of the world pay our deepest heartfelt condolence to ourselves in this moment of grief. It is a humongous lost for all of us. When a political leader passes away all the politicians across party lines pay their last respect and tribute to the departed. My goodness! It was amazing to see the lavish coverage of the death of a legendary lady of Poes Garden. Whenever you switch on news channels, all of them carried the same.

Redeem your wads of 500 & 1000!

A monkey in China knew beforehand that who is going to be the next President of the United States of America. Even a fish in Chennai rightly forecast that Trump will triumph. No living being on earth including humans could predict the untimely passing away of rupees 500 and 1000 denominations. But few intelligent sceptics like Delhi Chief Minister do not believe in this theory of ‘supreme secrecy’. Anyway, the condolences of such sudden and unexpected demise are going on in every family of high and mighty throughout the country. I sincerely pay my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. More than 90% of my friends belong to the bereft houses. On the basis of my friends don’t call me a bourgeoisie; I love to be identified with the masses though I am slightly better off.

For the aspiring candidates of 2017

There are certain important things that I would like to share with all the aspiring candidates, particularly the new aspirants of the 2017 State Assembly election. I am not in politics but I have quite a good number of politician-friends across party lines. Many of them do rightly think that they are wiser and smarter than me. Despite this fact I keep talking to them and giving my friendly advice to them, just like teaching the cats how to lick milk. Quite often they pretend that they are listening, but actually they don’t. When they are in trouble they tend to run from pillar to post, from lawyer to lawyer, from court to court and so on and so forth.

Today’s exciting opinion poll

Last week we saw an opinion poll of an organization saying that a national party will get 31 to 35 seats in the ensuing Manipur state election which is likely to be held in January/February 2017. Since then there has been lots of speculations and conjectures doing the rounds among the culvert-gossipers and in the political circles, party offices, local hotels (ene hotels) , etc about the possible results of the next election. Some skeptics are of the view that the survey is not sound as its sample size is too small and at the same time it is too early to fathom voters mind. A BJP leader opines that the survey is not fully correct as they are getting 40 seats hands down. Many journalists feel that parties are not so important as compared to the contesting candidates while deciding the results.

I really don’t understand why people are annoyed when Sharmila gave up fasting. First of all she started the fast herself, nobody insisted or instigated her to do so.

Understanding GST by a common man

These days we find GST everywhere like Pokémon Go; we come across reports, news, articles, interviews and editorials on GST in the media. But a common man like me does not comprehend what they are talking about. First they talk about a cap; we know cap is a kind of hat. They make things more complicated when they say, cap should be 18 or 19 or 20 or 21 so on and so forth. I think one cap is more than enough; I also have only one cap, rather a monkey – cap.
