Kuki Worship Service London – 4th Anniversary Celebration at Bournemouth Beach

After much deliberation and earnest prayer, on Saturday 9th July 2011 KWS London went for an outing to Bournemouth, marking its 4th Anniversary of the fellowship (2007-2011) in an awesome outdoor family-friendly model.

The weather was excellent, and it was a great day to get to know others, have fund, food and fellowship. As highlighted beforehand, a Coach was hired for transportation. Altogether over 25+ people were on board, joining the day out. The team set off from London around 9.30 am and reached Bournemouth (the final destination) at 11.30 am.

The KWS committee-having truly felt the essential aspect of development in the areas of physical and social for spiritual growth and wellbeing, this trip was especially designed for an out-door. In fact, needless to mention though, in a Mega-City like London everybody seems to be leading a hectic lives handing various commitments relating to work, school, and family. All these seem to occupy and engaged people’s entire day with no time for “get-together to socialize”. This outing offered a brilliant opportunity to socialize, vent out some stress, also provided a sense of peace and recreation for all.

On reaching the amazing targeted spot, everyone had an incredible moment! The place was a lovely sandy beach with stunning views of the Isle of Wight. Some played sand football, some strolling along seaside enjoying the miles of breath-taking coast line, whilst others were seating cool on a deckchair seeping wonderful drink and chatting to people around.
Before lunch period foods & drinks bought together were kept on a portable table with an appropriate cover to protect from unnecessary contamination.

A buffet lunch was served at 1.30 pm. The recipe includes Kebab, traditional Mepoh, Ngari-Singju and many more, which everyone enjoyed! This was followed by a brief photograph session. Later in the afternoon, unable to resist the temptation of the amazing sea, some KWS folks grabbed the opportunity to swim in the sea, also played on the sandy beach creating a crazy art on the sand, adding spice to the event.

At the fake end of all the activities Canon Dr David Haokip led a brief reflection session, which was concluded in prayer by Revd. Zamhao Haokip. This was followed by much awaited “Lengkhom” inside the Coach led by Mr. Daniel Haokip, Johnny Haolai, Robert Vaiphei and Nengpi Haokip keeping the trip very lively all the way until we reached back home. One of our colleagues Mr. Rickky Vaiphei said “Today is one of my happiest days ever!” Indeed, without a shadow of a doubt it was truly an enriching experience. Everyone had a blessed time, fun and fellowship, forging new relationships with the newcomers!

KWS London committee would like say a big “Thank You” to everyone for coming along to the outing and making it such a marvelous day out. Also, we extend our sincere thanks to all who constantly supports our effort through prayer.

KWS fellowship: There will be no fellowship for the month of August, however-hope to see you all in the up-coming KUT festival.

The next KWS fellowship is expected to be held on the second Sunday of September. Further details will be sent out nearer to the date.

Dear Fellow Indians,

We are sportspersons who love to play our sport and bring smiles to our people. We play as ‘India’ and we play for the pride of our countrymen. There can be nothing bigger an award for us than people cheering at our every move and pray for a win every time we play.

We believe that the sportspersons and common people ooze the tears of happiness and sorrow together. We are from this beautiful part of India, popularly known as North East. We are simple people smiling our way to achieve our simple dreams. We love to play and win. We love to smile and show to the world how wonderful this corner of the earth is. But, alas, it is not the case always!

As much as we have enjoyed the privilege of representing you in various international platforms, today we are very saddened at what is repeatedly going on in our beloved and beautiful state of Manipur. The common people have been struggling everyday for basic amenities of life. The four month long economic blockade and resultant deadlock have affected the normal life of every common man of this part of the country.

It’s sad to see this great nation giving a deaf ear while lakhs of its citizens in one of the most vibrant states – Manipur have been suffering under the dark shadow of the economic blockade for more than 120 days. It’s painful to see no conclusive action from any of the responsible quarters for over 4 months when the people of Manipur were made to struggle for basic essential items, life saving drugs and many more.

It’s same state which has produced some of the best sportspersons for this country who have brought laurels to the nation at international platforms; it’s the same state which has given some of the best performing art forms and artistes to the nation.

Today, they need your support. They need support from everyone to put an end to the sufferings and help them live a normal life.

We appeal to everyone to restrain from using economic blockade or other such extreme modes of protest on humanitarian grounds and find a solution through democratic way. At the same time, we appeal to our fellow countrymen and the people’s representatives to join hands and help bring back Manipur on the growth path and make it an integral part of the development of our nation.

Let us, the people of this country, work towards rebuilding the jewel of India.

We hope that our honourable prime minister will sow the seeds of peace and lay the foundation of a prosperous Manipur when he visits the state on 3rd December, 2011.

From 23 November to 04 December (12 DAYS 10 STATES)

After receiving an overwhelmed support, responses, wishes for Srinagar Imphal Save Sharmila Jan Karwan, it is decided by the campaign to start the next phase of karwan in the form of Jattha to meet the objective of the campaign, that is, to spread awareness among people of non victim states (states where AFSPA is not imposed) and to stengthen nationwide signature campaign which is already running by the campaign. This next phase will be an effort to cover other states that were not covered during Srinagar-Imphal Jan karwan.

This was the first time when any such journey (Srinagar to Imphal Jan Karwan) organized for the cause of AFSPA and covered various states of India to raise the voice of NE states and J&K. This karwan created an atmosphere and people of all states along with media supported the cause.

Save Sharmila Solidarity Campaign believes that non violence should not be ignored. The campaign has become involved in creating a positive atmosphere of talk to bring out a solution for NE states and J&K for repeal of AFSPA. Through this solidarity Campaign, we express our solidarity towards people of NE states and J&K. Irom has become a symbol of peace and non violence through her fast. We are followers of non violence and peace and thus we support Irom through this Solidarity Campaign which is based on humanity, peace, justice and democracy.

The campaign decided to start its 12 day Ahemdabad- Srinagar journey in which a Jattha (small group) of activists will start its journey from the land of Gandhi, Sabarmati Ashram, Ahemdabad and will culminate its journey at the Hazratbal, Srinagar. On one side, where starting point is known for its lessons of non violence and peace, the culminating point , Hazratbal, that is a symbol of love, harmony and spiritualism. Besides it, Hazratbal was the same place from where the previous journey (karwan) was started (on 16th October) for the same cause.

This Jattha will travel along 10 states to create the public opinion and to get support through public meetings, pamphlets distribution, press meet, road march etc  for the demands of campaign.

Schedule is given below:

Kadam 3 is a national mega discoverability awareness raising campaign , an initiative of National Trust of India organized in Manipur by Spastic Society of Manipur with support of Government of Manipur

Spastic Society of Manipur had organized the Badhte Kadam 2 in November 2010, with support from the State Govt. of Manipur and Assam Rifles and had bagged the Best State Award for the Best Campaign 2010 due to its professional and innovative approach.
This year Badhte Kadam 3 is scheduled from 14th Nov-3rd Dec. 2011 in 7 districts of Manipur in regions not covered before including Tamenlong, Sugnu & Moreh . The theme is “Get involved, Share a few moments of your life with us “.Also we are to launch MARUP (friends club for disabled persons ) in Manipur with the aim of creating a network of persons who will volunteer to educate, entertain and empower persons with disabilities in the state.
With the vision that “No disabled person is left alone and neglected in the society” and a mission to create a network of friends all over the State to achieve inclusion and community participation of persons with disabilities the Badhte kadam team will visit schools and colleges in seven districts and conduct awareness programmes with games, quiz show, talent show ,poster and photo exhibition .

MARUP is a network of non disabled persons who volunteered to be friends of the disabled persons in the community and contribute some time and energy whenever possible to be with them, entertain them, share experiences with them, aid them in activities of daily living ,livelihoods, advocate and provide non formal educational activities and physical support to the disabled persons and the family members in whatever capacity they can voluntarily without desire of personal financial gains.
Many people with disabilities continue to lack connections beyond their relationships with their families and other people in the human service settings they attend. This reflects a history of discrimination against people with disabilities which is expressed in multiple barriers to social integration.

To truly integrate them in the society they need to have a good, diverse social networks with positive involvement of non disabled persons in all aspects of life.

Through Badhte Kadam , we want to create awakening in the society especially to the students regarding our changing lifestyles that causes disabilities and that they also have duties and responsibilities towards their fellow men who are less fortunate and together we can help them live a life of dignity and happiness.

Imphal 19th Sept 2011: Nahakpam foods and Beverages “Boss juices” Sangolband in an effort to promote healthy generation launched the first commercial juice bar in Manipur on the 6th of May 2011. “Boss Juices” has been trying to keep its promise of introducing products which we can rely, with regards to price and quality.
“Boss” experience shows a very poor business scenario which is thoroughly dependent on imported raw material. In such an environment it is of utmost importance that we try and explore products of which the raw materials are based in our own state.
Such an effort will help sustain independently without the support of imported raw material. For an organization like “Nahakpam Foods and Beverages” which belongs to small scale industries family, it is a challenge to survive during blockade and general strike when raw materials prices to peak high.

“Boss juices” new product “Tropical Fruit Smoothie” is an outcome of such effort.

“Tropical Fruit Smoothie” is a fresh fruit smoothie which contains the freshness of passion fruit, delicacy of pineapple, energy of banana and frozen yoghurt.

Together this new product brings a healthy diet which we can call our own. With the raw materials based in our own state team “boss juices” is positive that our guest can trust our brand for quality, taste, health and price as we team “boss juices” stand for healthy generation of the future

Boss Juices Bar at Sagolband

Press Release

Dated: 11 September, 2011, New Delhi
Delhi University, Arts Faculty, Main Gate

Black Day Observation
Repeal Armed Force Special Power Act 1958 is the Way Forward.

11 days fast by Ann Hazare brought nation and its parliament to its knees while 11 year’s old hunger strike by Manipur’s Irom Shrmila has still not moved nation its people and its parliament. Irom Sharmila Chanu has completed her fast for 3640 days , 7200 hours and 100080 minutes ( 10 years , 10 months and 7 days) today ( 11/September, 2011). The most inhuman, anti -democratic black law the Armed Forces Special Powers Act -1958 has completed 53 years of its existence after India became “republic, secular, democratic, and sovereign” in 61 years. Silently away from the blares of media it is but an inconvenient truth of the so-called largest democracy of the world.11 September is the day of the year 1958 when the Armed Forces Special Power Act (AFSPA) was signed into a law by his Excellency the President of India. It is a clear black day in the history of 20th Century. It was an attack on humanity and principle of democracy and people.

Since then, without any break and judicial review, the black law has been in force in the region. Time has now come we the people to need to understand the call to repeal the Armed Forces Special Powers Act 1958. It is a colonel act made by the British colonel power to suppress the quite India movement in 1942. It was brought just after 9 years of India became republic in 1958. It was a shame day in post Independent India. AFSPA is a lawless law. No other part in this world of any other country around the world has similar draconian black laws of existence. AFSPA is a clear symbol of state terrorism and state racism. There is no any place of AFSPA 1958 in democratic and civilized society. In India, AFSPA completely dismantle one of the important institutions of democracy, the Judiciary. Interestingly, all the important institutions of “Indian Democracy” are united in the name of “national Interest” and taking share of exploitation and justification in their own space of power. India’s highest legislature, the Indian Parliament passed the law, the Executives, “security forces” performing execution, killing, and raping, the highest Judiciary, the Supreme Court of India justified the act and the Media does not dully inform the people about what is happening with the profit making process and out of imagination. People in India remain ignorant and maintaining silence. In the process, people who live under this act are living with all kinds of injustice and painful life. That is how this law is operating.

53 years of AFSPA -1955 is enough. We are united and extending our support to Irom Sharmila and the struggle of people in the last 53 years to repeal this Black law.

Now, the time has come this black law should go.

Repeal Armed Forces Special Powers Act is the way forward to address many problems in the Disturbed area created by the Indian State Itself.
