30 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector under HQ IGAR (South) organised Band and Weapon Display followed by motivation lecture for the NCC girls cadets of DM College, Imphal on 15 June 2012, A briefing on various career options in the Armed Forces was also organised as part of the event. Around 153 NCC cadets of D M College attended the lecture and enjoyed the Band and Weapon Display. Students were motivated to study hard and become a good citizen of the country through lecture. They were excited to see and handle the weapons and showed inquisitiveness and queried regarding the weapons.

The Home minister Shri Gaikhangam visited the conditions of MPTC and Forensic Science Laboratory, Pangei today.
Speaking at the multipurpose hall, MPTC, he said for those who are in active service, discipline is necessary, therefore those who undertake training should do with discipline, loyalty and sacrifice.
The govt. will improve the infrastructures and other necessary items for the said MPTC and FSL.
He personally inspected barrack, hospital, kitchen, dining hall, store room, canteen of MPTC.
The Home minister also visited FSL. Where he further said the govt. will consult the concerned deptt. to provide dedicated power supply.
The DGP of Manipur Shri R. Baral, special secy(home) Dr. J. Suresh Babu and other officials accompanied the minister.

India and Pakistan today reaffirmed their resolve to make serious, sustained and result oriented efforts for seeking an amicable resolution of Siachen. In a joint statement issued at the end of the two-day Defence Secretary level talks in Rawalpindi, it was agreed to continue dialogue on Siachen in keeping with the desire of the leaders of both countries for early resolution of all outstanding issues. The talks were held in a cordial and friendly atmosphere. Both sides acknowledged that the ceasefire was holding since 2003. The Indian delegation was headed by Shri Shashikant Sharma while Ms. Nargis Sethi led the Pakistani side. Shri Sharma also called on the Minister for Defence Syed Naveed Qamar. It was agreed that the next round of talks on Siachen will be held in New Delhi on mutually convenient dates, to be fixed through diplomatic channels.
